Understanding and paying Inheritance Tax in the UK
Inheritance Tax is paid if the value of the estate (property, money, and possessions) is above the current threshold of £325,000. The tax is charged at 40% on anything above this threshold.
There are various exemptions and reliefs available, such as leaving everything to a spouse or civil partner, or leaving your home to your children or grandchildren.
